Estimation of resistance allele frequencies to Cry1A.105 and Cry2Ab2 in the corn earworm (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) with F2 isolines generated from a mass-mating method

چکیده

The corn earworm/bollworm, Helicoverpa zea (Boddie), in the United States is targeted by transgenic and cotton expressing Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) proteins. Previous studies have shown that resistance to Cry1A/Cry2A Bt has occurred field. In this study, we established 103 F2 isolines mass-mating of H. populations collected during 2018 2019 four southeastern U.S. states: Louisiana, Mississippi, Georgia, South Carolina. Dissection mated females showed at least 92.7% were originated from single matings, suggesting applied method a suitable approach establish isolines. screen allele frequencies these high two proteins expressed MON 89034 hybrids, averaging 0.405 for Cry1A.105 0.330 Cry2Ab2. observed confirm insect common region. addition, (0.490 0.541 Cry2Ab2) significantly greater than (0.312 0.081 2018, indicating selection Cry was likely still ongoing Information generated study useful assess risk, refine modeling, improve IRM programs mitigate sustainable use crop technology States.

Baseline susceptibility of the corn earworm (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) to the Cry1Ab toxin from Bacillus thuringiensis.

Susceptibility to Cry1Ab toxin from Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) was determined for 12 field populations of neonate corn earworm, Helicoverpa zea (Boddie), from the United States. Earworm larvae were exposed to artificial diet treated with increasing Bt concentrations, and mortality and growth inhibition were evaluated after 7 d. The range of variation in Bt susceptibility indicated by growth in...

Influence of Soybean Planting Date and Leaf Age on Resistance to Corn Earworm (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae)

Environ.Entomol.21(2):264-268(1992) ABSTRACT Soybean, Glycine max (L.) Merr., resistance to insects has been shown to vary with planting date and leaf age. This study determined effects soybean genotype, planting date, and leaf age had on feeding behavior of com earworm, Helicoverpa zea (Boddie). Soybean genotypes 'Cobb' (susceptible) and 'GatIR81-296' (resistant) were planted early (29May) and...

Corn earworm, Helicoverpa zea (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) and other insect associated resistance in the maize inbred Tex6.

A 2-yr field and laboratory study investigated insect resistance of the maize, Zea mays L., inbred Tex6, which has previously demonstrated resistance to Aspergillus ear rot and aflatoxin production, relative to susceptible inbred B73. Field studies indicated significantly greater resistance to insect feeding of V4-V8 growth stage Tex6 plants compared with B73 plants in both years, primarily to ...

Plant-incorporated Bacillus thuringiensis resistance for control of fall armyworm and corn earworm (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) in corn.

Fall armyworm, Spodoptera frugiperda (J.E. Smith), and corn earworm, Helicoverpa zea (Boddie), perennially cause leaf and ear damage to corn, Zea mays L., in the southeastern United States. Transgenic Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) hybrids with the Bt11, MON810, or 176 events expressing the Cry1Ab insecticidal endotoxin from were evaluated for control fall armyworm and corn earworm at seven locati...

Multi-state trials of Bt sweet corn varieties for control of the corn earworm (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae).

Field tests in 2010-2011 were performed in New York, Minnesota, Maryland, Ohio, and Georgia to compare Bt sweet corn lines expressing Cry1A.105 + Cry2Ab2 and Cry1Ab with their non-Bt isolines, with and without the use of foliar insecticides. The primary insect pest in all locations during the trial years was Heliocoverpa zea (Boddie), which is becoming the most serious insect pest of sweet corn...
